Wilderness Travel trips to Raja Ampat support Misool Foundation, which helps protect some of the most biodiverse coral reefs on Earth. Founded as the nonprofit arm of Misool Resort, the foundation partners with local communities to safeguard marine life through conservation and education. Central to this work is the Misool Marine Reserve, a 300,000-acre network of No-Take Zones patrolled daily by locally trained rangers, which has led to remarkable recoveries in reef health and population sizes of species like sharks and manta rays. Misool Foundation also leads community education programs, waste and recycling initiatives, and marine research.
