Uganda Safari Tours

Face to Face with Mountain Gorillas

Uganda boasts some of the world’s most rewarding safari experiences. From thrilling up-close encounters with endangered mountain gorillas, to hiking in lush tropical forests while chimpanzees leap through the canopy above, to admiring a pride of lions on the vast savanna—our Uganda safaris bring you to the heart of untamed Africa.

Three travelers walk across a wooden bridge over a small stream in a dense, green forest with hanging moss and ferns.

What Makes Our Uganda Tours Special?

  • Two Full Days of Gorilla Tracking — We give you two days in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park to track mountain gorillas—doubling your chances of close encounters with these extraordinary creatures. And our groups are limited to just 7 travelers.
  • Big Game & Great Apes — Our itineraries go beyond gorillas. Track chimpanzees through the canopy of Kibale Forest, use telemetry with researchers to locate lion prides in Queen Elizabeth National Park, and cruise the Kazinga Channel among hippos, elephants, and over 500 bird species.
  • Behind-the-Scenes Conservation Access — We visit the Conservation Through Public Health (CTPH) at Bwindi, where you’ll tour the facilities and see the team’s work up close. A CTPH doctor joins us for dinner to share their story firsthand—an experience most visitors never have.
  • Lodges Chosen for Wildlife Access — Every property puts you close to the action. Mahogany Springs is set just outside Bwindi, where gorillas sometimes cross the river in view of the lodge, while Elephant Plains overlooks the Great Rift Valley in Queen Elizabeth National Park.
  • Expert Ugandan Trip Leaders — Our guides have deep knowledge of Uganda’s primates, birds, and ecosystems. They know the daily patterns of chimpanzee clans, navigate Bwindi’s steep trails with confidence, and open doors to cultural encounters like village walks in Bigodi.

Everything You Need to Know

Uganda has gained a reputation for its thriving chimp and gorilla populations, found in Kibale and Bwindi National Parks. But there’s much more to this dynamic country. As one of the biodiversity capitals of the world, Uganda will have you doing everything from spotting the “Big Five” at Queen Elizabeth National Park to cruising the Nile Delta at Murchison Falls National Park.

Community & Conservation

Wilderness Travel trips to Uganda support the Conservation Through Public Health (CTPH), which both protects endangered mountain gorillas and enhances community health. CTPH combines wildlife conservation with human health initiatives to reduce the risk of disease transmission between people and animals. All money goes directly toward helping CTPH offer health education and disease prevention programs, along with promoting sustainable livelihoods for local communities.
