Le Commandant Charcot
Launched in 2021,Le Commandant Charcot is the world’s first purpose-built Class II ice-breaking vessel designed specifically for commercial passengers. Accommodating just 245 guests, this remarkable ship can break through ice up to eight feet thick, allowing it to reach the planet’s most remote latitudes—including the geographic North Pole—far beyond the reach of conventional expedition ships. It also sets a new standard for environmentally responsible polar travel as the first hybrid-powered exploration vessel using liquefied natural gas to significantly reduce emissions. The ship offers state-of-the-art amenities, including all-balcony staterooms, a full spa complex with an indoor pool, an observation lounge, an outdoor heated pool, and two restaurants. With a crew of 215—nearly a one-to-one ratio with guests—service on board is exceptionally attentive.
