Unique Wildlife in Madagascar

Exploring the Eighth Continent

A green chameleon with textured skin and markings is perched on a branch, capturing the magic of Madagascar as it blends into its natural outdoor surroundings.

Having your finger encased in the gentle, but vise-like grip of a chameleon is a sensation like no other on Earth. And those eyes! The chance to interact with these amazing creatures was a priceless experience.

A close-up of a lemur on the left and a woman smiling on the right, capturing precious moments with the lush trees and plants of Madagascar in the background.

Lemurs exist in the wild ONLY in Madagascar. This diademed sifaka is possibly the most beautiful lemur. It’s heartbreaking that these creatures are so critically endangered, but traveling here does aid in efforts to protect them—our tourist dollars at work! // We had many chances to meet and interact with the Malagasy people—who are generally extremely friendly, especially the kids.

Silhouettes of two baobab trees at sunset, the sun low on the horizon, and a flock of birds flying between the trees capture one of Madagascar's most breathtaking moments.

Viewing these magnificent baobabs at sunset was a thrilling highlight of our trip—many are over 800 years old.
