Wildlife of Western India: From Asiatic Lions to Leopards

From rare Indian wildlife, including Asiatic lions and the Asiatic wild ass (khur), to the leopards at Bera, this is a connoisseur’s safari you’ll only find with Wilderness Travel. Exploring Gir and Velavadar national parks, we’ll keep an eye out for striped hyena, Indian wolf, chinkara, blackbuck, and the world’s only four-horned antelopes. At Bera, we’ll track free-roaming leopards that the local Rabari herders consider sacred guardians. In the stunning salt flats of the Rann of Kutch, we’ll find hyenas, desert cats and throngs of pink flamingos. Ours is an overland adventure, so be prepared for long travel days—but they’ll be well rewarded with our rare wildlife and cultural encounters. We finish up in the ancient “blue city” of Jodhpur with a visit to the majestic Mehrangarh Fort.
