The Grandhotel Stary Smokovec, whose story begins in 1904, was the first big hotel in the High Tatras and has been visited by eminent personalities including Saxon prince Frederick Augustus. The buildings have been renovated to maintain the historic atmosphere while adding some modern comforts. There is an onsite restaurant and a wellness center with a pool, Jacuzzi-style hot tub, and saunas.
