Pacific Trip Leader

Zac Imhoof

Born and raised in Tahuna (Queenstown), New Zealand's adventure capital, Zac thrives in the outdoors and is the perfect travel companion on our New Zealand adventures. As the son of beloved WT Trip Leader Jon Imhoof, Zac takes to any adventure like a fish to water and has spent most of his life snowboarding, surfing, climbing, and biking. Zac is right at home in the New Zealand bush and will enlighten you with his knowledge of food foraging, medicinal plants, and traditional uses of plants for weaving baskets, braiding rope, or carving. He has also been fortunate enough to sail around Australia and the South Pacific, becoming well-versed in the ways of the Pacific Ocean and the many cultures that thrive there. Outside of leading trips, Zac started two community-based projects in Otautahi (Christchurch), where he helps people be more sustainable through repairing worn goods and upcycling plastic items.

Client Testimonials

Zac was the gentle soul of the group—his love of nature and respect for the environment was evident in all he did, from leading hikes to preparing beautiful picnics. I loved his passion and caring attitude.

Debbie D.

Park City, UT

Zac was friendly, enthusiastic, and was interested in each member of the group. And he made us each feel welcome in his country. Zac had great knowledge of the longer term history of the land. This added extra content that made us think differently about our western perspective.

Garth W.

San Francisco, CA

Zac is such a bright light, and his passion for New Zealand and nature is undeniable. He was extremely knowledgeable about the many places we visited, especially in the science/plant realms. His positivity radiated through the group, and he brought a great energy to ensure we all stayed present and relaxed throughout the trip. He went above and beyond for each one of us!

Jessica M.

Phoenix, AZ

Zac brought a passion for New Zealand and infectious energy to the trip. Can't recommend him highly enough.

John V.

Newbury, NH

Zac is a natural. He interacted with the participants, answering questions and displaying endless enthusiasm for the experience we were having. His interest and knowledge base in native plants, fungus, animals, etc. were especially helpful for me.
