Maan Alsabbagh comes from a farming family near the slopes of Mount Hermon, on the border of Syria and Lebanon, where he grew up immersed in nature, hiking and exploring the surrounding mountains. After studying English Literature at Damascus University, he became a professional tour guide and began working with Wilderness Travel in 1995, leading trips throughout Syria, Jordan, and Lebanon, as well as co-leading journeys in the European Alps. Over the years, he has contributed to documentary programs for Hungarian and Turkish television and assisted several history writers researching books about the region. In 2014, Maan emigrated to Sweden to build a new life for his two sons.
