Latin America Trip Leader
Karen Lund Petersen, born and raised in Buenos Aires, has a degree in Environmental Science and a passion for sharing nature with people--especially Patagonia’s wild nature. She now lives with her family in a small village in the forests of northern Patagonia. When not out guiding our trips, she works in her vegetable garden, teaches sustainability, and lectures on food production and consumption. “I love how wild Patagonia still is. When you travel here, you feel a deep respect for the powers of nature—the strong winds, the vast openness, the magnificent granite walls, glaciers, plants, and animals… I love it all. And I especially love sharing it with others.”
Our Team"Karen is one of the kindest and most encouraging people I have ever met. She infused the start of every day with her joy and happiness and set a fun and joyous tone for the rest of the day. "

"Karen is an absolutely fantastic trip leader. She looks for ways to make the trip extra special for each participant, and she makes everyone feel cared for. She is so knowledgeable about flora, fauna, geology, history, etc. that when the local guides tried to teach us about these things, we already knew—because Karen had taught us about it! She is smart, fun, kind, and well-organized. "
