Mohamed Hjira was born in the classic Amazigh town of Azilal in Morocco’s High Atlas. His hometown, the gateway to the Central High Atlas, was often visited by travelers because of its proximity to the spectacular Ouzoud Waterfalls, so during his childhood he met people from all around the world, which led him to want to make a career as a guide. Mohamed moved to Marrakesh and graduated from the University of Marrakesh with a degree in economics, then obtained his guide license. He has guided for us in the High Atlas as well as many other regions of Morocco since 2010, and has a wide knowledge of and an infectious passion for the ancient cultures and natural beauty of his home country. He speaks fluent English as well as French, Amazigh, and Arabic.
Mohamed was exceptional. He was greatly knowledgeable, caring, fun, and helpful. He stands out as an exceptional person and a great trip leader.
Mohamed was a true delight! Incredibly knowledgeable about his country, the history, the customs, the cuisine, never had a question he could not answer. His personality charmed us all! Mohamed was willing to share stories from his village and his family and of the educational path he chose. He knew everyone, had friends everywhere we journeyed, knew the stories behind the stories! He was absolutely awesome to have as our guide. His care and concern for each of us, our health, our safety, our needs, went above and beyond what was expected.
I can't say enough good things about Mohamed. He was truly a dream guide! He took care of everything seamlessly and professionally and provided profound insights into his county (which he's deservedly proud of). He's kind, thoughtful, and intelligent, and perfect for the type of traveller who takes this trip. We all loved him and were sorry to say goodbye.
Mohamed is an outstanding leader, very knowledgeable and sensitive to the needs of the clients.
We loved Mohamed. Knowledgeable and friendly and fun. Could not have been better.
He was terrific! Resourceful, flexible, well organized and very interesting.
Mohamed was unfailingly polite, responsive, energetic, entertaining, informative, and helpful. We have participated in a number of group trips to off-the-grid places, and Mohamed was one of the best guides we have had.
Mohamed made our trip fun and interesting. Each of us enjoyed his engaging personality, and learning about Moroccan culture and history, not only through his teachings as a guide but through his personal experience.
Mohamed was a wonderful guide, a genuine and thoughtful person who loves Morocco and sharing his knowledge of his country.
Mohamed was first rate. He knew the history, geography, and culture of Morocco. He had a great sense of humor and related very well with all the participants. He made sure we were happy.
Mohammed is another shining star in your staff of Trip Leaders I've encountered in my travels with Wilderness Travel. He is outstanding, so aware and concerned for each individual's comfort.
I don't know how we could have had a better trip leader/guide than Mohamed.
We loved Mohamed! He had a wealth of knowledge and was so diplomatic, fun, organized, and just delighful to be with. He MADE the trip!
Mohamed was outstanding. He anticipated everything and made the trip seamless for us. His sense of humor and candor enriched the trip immensely.
Mohanned was really outstanding. We had the highest regard for his manners, knowledge, upbeat attitude, and generosity. There was nothing that was too much; he was open to talk about any subject and in every way he was wonderful.
Mohamed was always upbeat, professional, and capable. He was, without a doubt, the highlight of the trip, next to my camel, Clyde.
A superb guide on every level. Culturally aware, nuanced in inter-personal dealings, highly effective in maneuvering through situations, took us to sights not on the official tour (market in Rissani, Jewish cemetery near Erfoud) that were highlights for us…and he was simply fun to be with.
