Searching for Lions, the Kings of Africa

A lion, one of the Kings of Africa, stands regally on a fallen tree trunk in a savannah landscape with dry grass and scattered trees under a clear sky.

A beautiful male lion looks out across the Okonjima Nature Reserve, home to the renowned AfriCat Foundation.

A group of WT adventurers had the exclusive opportunity to visit these lions (as well as their neighbors the leopards, cheetahs, and wild dogs) in their stunning habitat. Our partners in Namibia sent this report from the field on how the group enjoyed their Desert Lion Safari:

People observing wildlife from a covered viewing area with binoculars and cameras, hoping to catch a glimpse of the majestic Kings of Africa.

They were the first guests welcomed into to the new lion-hide at Okonjima.

Two lions, the kings of Africa, lying down in dry grassland near a fallen tree and termite mound, with sparse trees in the background.

They had an amazing lion sighting, admiring these magnificent Kings of Africa.

A window view of a savanna with the Kings of Africa, lions, lying in the grass. In the foreground, a tray with upside-down wine glasses, filled glasses of wine, a jug, and a champagne bucket are set on a table.

Of course with a glass of champagne.

A group of people sits on chairs outdoors in a dry, wooded area, reminiscent of the Kings of Africa. One person stands pouring a drink at a table with various beverages and fruit. In the background, there's a large termite mound adding to the scene's natural beauty.

Guests had time to learn more about conservation initiatives involving Africa’s large cats, as well as a question & answer chat in the bush with Donna from the AfriCat Foundation.

A group of eight people stand outdoors around a table with food and drinks, with a scenic landscape featuring a tree and distant hills in the background. They appear as if they're enjoying a feast fit for the Kings of Africa.

And finally, a special sundowner with a view.
