Adventures in Authentic Spain

Hike From Granada to Sevilla, Through Mountain Villages, Along the Marvelous Ranges of Southern Spain

An authentic scene unfolds as a man with a cane, a horse, and a dog speaks to a woman in a blue shirt on a dirt path near an old stone building and trees in Spain.

Hiking in Las Alpujarras along an ancient path still used by locals, we passed through villages and by villagers tending to their crops terraced on the hillsides. This man, who was out for a walk with his mule and sheepdog, stopped to chat with our Trip Leader, Marian.

Four authentic hikers with trekking poles stand on a mountain trail in Spain, with a scenic valley and distant mountains in the background.

We passed through Poqueira Gorge on our way to the iconic mountain village of Capileira. Every corner of Capileira offered incredible views of the Sierra Nevada mountains that surrounded us.

A woman authentically serves paella from a large pan at an outdoor table set with glasses, pitchers, and various dishes, surrounded by people, evoking the vibrant spirit of Spain.

After a hike, we were rewarded with a fantastic paella lunch. There is no better way to end a hike in Spain than with paella and sangria.

Hiking in the spectacular Sierra de Grazalema National Park, there were vistas all around. Here we are overlooking Grazalema, one of Spain’s most renowned Pueblos Blancos.
