Adventuring in South Africa route-map

Days 1-3
Cape Town / Cape Peninsula

Cape Town is set in a spectacular meeting of mountain and sea. With accommodations at the deluxe Cape Grace Hotel, we hike on Table Mountain, ferry out to Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned, and explore the Cape Peninsula all the way to the Cape of Good Hope.

Day 4
Cape Winelands / Franschoek

We savor South Africa’s world-famous wine country and visit the historic university town of Stellenbosch. Overnight at the luxurious Franschoek Country House.

Days 5-9
The Garden Route / Drakensburg Mountains

Forested mountains push right to the coast on the Garden Route, South Africa’s spectacular southeast coast. We hike along the azure Indian Ocean in Tsitsikamma National Park, with overnights at The Fernery, a gorgeous hideaway of secluded chalets. In the craggy Drakensbergs, an extraordinary fantasia of cliffs and buttresses, we hike to a stunning natural amphitheatre from our lovely mountain inn in Zulu country.

Days 10-15
Gameviewing at Sabi Sands Private Game Reserve

No fences lie between Sabi Sands and renowned Kruger National Park, and the combined ecosystem offers one of the highest wildlife populations in Africa. We savor phenomenal gameviewing in Sabi Sands, exploring by 4WD vehicle for the “big five” (lion, leopard, rhinoceros, buffalo, and elephant) first from Nkorho Game Lodge, then from legendary Londolozi, a luxurious, award-winning lodge deep within Sabi Sands. Leopard tracking at Londolozi is out of this world. Depart on Day 15 or join our Victoria Falls Extension.
