Mark Tennent

A native of Bath, England, Mark quickly learned his calling was in the mountains. He completed a specialist Outdoor Education course and a Bachelor of Education degree at Bangor Normal College in North Wales and subsequently instructed at various outdoor centers including the UK National Mountain Centre, Plas y Brenin. He later graduated from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and was commissioned into the British Army. He left the Army as a Captain and guided in the mountains in Glencoe, Scotland, where he was also a member of the local mountain rescue team. A recipient of several mountaineering and leadership certificates, Mark has worked in various parts of the world including Afghanistan, Macedonia, Kosovo, Kenya, Sudan, and India. Since 2005, he has lived in the Savoie department of the French Alps, near Albertville, where he shares his passion for the outdoors, French food, and culture with a local Savoyarde (he speaks fluent French). He’s a member of the French “Syndicat Interprofessionnel de la Montagne,” bringing together mountain guides, climbing instructors, and mountain leaders. In his free time, Mark loves ski-mountaineering, rock climbing, mountaineering, and cycling.
