Vasili Vasileiou was born and raised in Ioannina, Greece, and is a member of the Vasileiou family that leads many of our trips in this captivating country. After attending technical school in Thessaloniki and a stint in the military as a Special Forces Officer, he now assists in guiding our Zagoria & Mt. Olympus trips during the summer season. “While I was growing up, I felt life in the mountains capturing me. Mountaineering, skiing, and hiking are my life. And that life I want to share with the people I guide—the peace and the simple life of nature.” An excellent skier and mountaineer, Vasili has also worked since 2009 with his father, Dr. Michel Vasileiou, who directs the Ski Patrol and Fisrt Aid Center at Vasilitsa Ski Resort in the Pindos Mountains of Greece, and he enjoys being called upon for emergency rescues and first aid response operations on the mountain. For more fun off the trail, Vasili likes riding his motorbike and crafting objects with iron, wood, and other materials.
Vasili is understated yet thorough, restrained yet ever-watchful, always prepared and always willing to help. He is very, very congenial and willing to spend evening time talking all things Greek...or other. He is incredibly intelligent and informed about the world around him without imposing on the people he leads.
