Lorenzo Sympson

Lorenzo Sympson is a specialist on the birds of Patagonia and a noted Andean condor expert. After obtaining a degree and practicing veterinary medicine for twelve years he initiated a research project on the black-chested buzzard-eagle and the Andean condor—studies he carries on today. He also co-founded Sociedad Naturalista Andino Patagonica, a regional NGO dedicated to the conservation of Patagonia’s unique ecosystems. Sympson participated in the re-introduction of captive-bred condors in Patagonia and coordinates a program for researching their biology and behavior. Since 1995 he has guided ornithologists, birdwatchers, nature photographers and well-known documentary makers through northern Patagonia.
