Overview

Utah is unrivaled for its soul-lifting landscapes and its iconic national parks protect some of the most breathtaking public lands in all the US. We’ve crafted a special week-long journey that brings you to the five most jaw-droppingly beautiful parks in Utah—Zion, Bryce, Capitol Reef, Arches, and Canyonlands—all on one trip. Your private Trip Leader will help you choose between spectacular hiking options in this mesmerizing world of sandstone castles, pinnacles, mesas, and buttes. In Zion, you’ll head into The Narrows, one of the world’s best slot canyon hikes, then walk among the “hoodoos” (rock columns) of Bryce Canyon and the cliffs and domes of Capitol Reef (including an optional add-for a renowned geologist to join you on the hike). After a half-day of exhilarating whitewater rafting on the Colorado River, enjoy your final hikes amid the balanced rocks and sandstone arches of Arches National Park and the kaleidoscope of gorges, towers, and petroglyphs in vast Canyonlands National Park. You’ll enjoy comfortable hotel accommodations along the way. Memorable desert sunsets and sunrises, the sheer scale of Utah’s geography, and stargazing under the misty glory of the Milky Way add to the delights of this journey. Join us!

Itinerary at a Glance

Days 1-2
Las Vegas, Nevada, or St. George, Utah / Springdale / Zion National Park / The Narrows

You’ll be met in either Las Vegas or St. George for a transfer to your hotel in Springdale. Explore the great Zion Canyon, with its 2,000-foot-high red sandstone cliffs and lush hanging gardens, then hike the legendary slot canyon called The Narrows. There is no trail in The Narrows—just the shallow waters of the winding Virgin River between thousand-foot high walls. You wade in and out of the river as you hike up this famous canyon. The farther upstream you go, the more incredible the sights become. All the special equipment for a comfortable river hike is provided.

Desert Pearl Inn
Springdale, USA
Days 1 to 2 (2 nights)
DAY 3
Angels Landing / Bryce Canyon National Park

Before leaving Zion this morning, we offer an optional hike up Angels Landing, a steep but spectacular “bucket list” hike on a switchback trail that carves it way to the top of a fin-like rock formation that puts you 1,500 feet above the canyon floor! Head to Bryce Canyon National Park in the afternoon for a stunning hike through its amphitheaters and labyrinths, among the hoodoos (rock columns) and spires, and along stone canyons of pink, white, and tan.

Days 4-5
Capitol Reef National Park / Colorado River Rafting

Driving to south-central Utah’s red rock country, choose among hikes in Capitol Reef National Park (an optional add-on has a geologist joining you on this hike). The trails cross under stone arches or lead to the top of high cliffs for a bird’s eye view. This less-visited park is a visual treasure and was called “the land of the sleeping rainbow” by native Americans for its fantasia of multicolored sandstone walls. The next day, enjoy an exhilarating half-day of rafting on the mighty Colorado River between the pinnacles and towers of the Castle Valley (can be lengthened to a full day of rafting or substituted for an extra day of hiking in Arches or Canyonlands if you choose).

Days 6-7
Arches and Canyonlands National Park / Salt Lake City, Utah, or Grand Junction, Colorad

Your grand finale hike is in the epic scenery of Arches National Park, with its thousands of sandstone arches, or in Canyonlands, Utah’s largest national park, an inspirational setting of stunning beauty and diversity with its soaring mesas, gorges, needles, buttes, and petroglyphs. A variety of great hiking options are available, and the two parks can be combined into one day, tailored to your interests. Depart on Day 7 via Salt Lake City or Grand Junction.

OPTIONAL ADD-ON INCLUDES:

  • A renowned geologist joining you on the hike in Capitol Reef
