Overview

Tanzania is home to home to the planet’s most varied menagerie of terrestrial wildlife. From the Serengeti, whose name means “endless plains” in Maasai, to the year-round concentrations of big game in Tarangire National Park, Tanzania is justifiably known as the greatest safari destination on Earth, with a third of its land dedicated to protected wildlife areas. There are limitless game viewing possibilities here—and by investing the time to get off the beaten path, our groups have the best opportunities for stunning animal encounters. From exclusive camps in gorgeous locations selected for privacy and unparalleled access to the migrating herds, you will enjoy exciting bush walks, night game drives, off-road travel, and cultural encounters with the Maasai. Our masterful trip leaders, who have an eye for spotting even the most elusive animals, will bring you on game drives to secluded areas, far from the safari crowds. Picture yourself, after a day in the stunning wildlife amphitheater of Ngorongoro Crater or among the elephant herds in Tarangire National Park, taking a sunset walk topped by a glass of champagne, and relaxing by the campfire with a billion stars overhead and the sounds of the bush in the distance. This is the way safari was meant to be.

Itinerary at a Glance

Days 1-5
Arusha / Tarangire

Tarangire National Park, especially its remote southern end, is Tanzania’s hidden gem. It is astounding to see Tarangire’s tremendous year-round concentrations of big game: elephant gathered in the hundreds, huge herds of zebra, wildebeest, Cape buffalo, eland, impala, oryx, kongoni, and Grant’s gazelle. Leopard can often be found resting in trees, and lion are seen along the river. Our close association with the local Maasai here is a special treat. From our private camp, exciting game walks enrich our wildlife experiences. Some evenings, we’ll take game drives with a spotlight to see the nocturnal wildlife. Our camp is absolutely gorgeous—it’s a true “glamping” experience: walk-in tents with en-suite bathrooms, beds with linens and a duvet, and delicious meals served by our long-time staff.
