Overview
From alpine peaks to villages of Venetian Gothic architecture along the Adriatic shore, Slovenia is gorgeous—and still relatively undiscovered by travelers, which makes it the perfect realm for a WT adventure. We enjoy a fantastic mix of hiking, history, and culture on our journey from the snow-capped Julian Alps down to medieval Piran nestled by the sea. Slovenia’s delicious cuisine, with both Italian and Austrian influences, will delight us, and we’ll dine one night at the family-run Hiša Franko in Kobarid—the acclaimed chef, Ana Roš, was named the “World’s Best Female Chef.”
The lodging was ideal, and it was wonderful having the meals included, especially the breakfast spreads at each of the hotels. The treats during hikes were not expected but were much appreciated, and they were timed perfectly!
