Scotland Private Journey

Castles, Lochs, the Highlands, and the Inner Hebrides

Trip Level

This trip is rated Level 2 and 3, Easy to Moderate, depending on your choice of hikes. It features vehicle-based sightseeing and optional hikes, as well as an optional sea kayaking excursion, and comfortable hotel accommodations throughout. We recommend you make a special effort to get in good physical condition for the trip, as it will greatly increase your enjoyment.

Summer or not, Scotland is famous for changeable weather. Count on everything from brilliant warm, sunny weather to cold rain, fog, and mist. The rule here is to be prepared by creating a layering system that can take you from shorts or skirts to warm Gore-Tex raingear. Note that waterproof ponchos are NOT recommended for hiking in Scotland due to the wind.
