An Arctic Expedition aboard the Rembrandt van Rijn

Rembrandt van Rijn

Originally built as a herring lugger, this sturdy vessel was rebuilt as a three-mast passenger sailing schooner in 1994, and underwent a complete refurbishment in 2011. With 16 cabins, she has a passenger capacity of 33 and a staff and crew of 12. Well-suited to sail in the Svalbard and Greenlandic waters, her communication and navigation equipment has been completely renewed according to the latest SOLAS regulations. Simple but tasty meals of international cuisine are served buffet style in the dining area, and small but cozy cabins each have a porthole and private shower and toilet. With ample open deck space for wildlife viewing, the Rembrandt is ideal for cruising among small islands and into hard-to-reach nooks and crannies. There’s also a bar, sitting area, and reading area, and she carries two Zodiacs for onshore excursions.
