Ancient Sites and the Cyclades Islands

Trip Level

This trip is Level 2+, Easy to Moderate. We will be exploring archaeological sites and hiking can be tailored to the group's needs. Travel between islands are by ferry and smaller boats. We do our best to use the fastest ferries, but this is not always possible. There are several opportunities for swimming on this trip.

Accommodations are in charming hotels chosen for their atmosphere and location. We enjoy our lunches picnic-style or at small tavernas. Our dinners also feature local food and a chance to sample traditional specialties of Athens, Nafplio, and the Cyclades. The delicious cuisine of these islands comes straight from the land or the sea. Please note that in Greece, the dinner hour is considerably later than what it is in the US. We do our best to secure early reservations for our groups, but most often the evening meal will be at 8:00 pm. Please keep this in mind when dining on your own.

Weather

Greece has a typical Mediterranean climate. Daytime temperatures peaks in the high 60’s F., while the temperature rarely drops below 50F. Sea temperatures stay on par with average daytime temperature. April sees moderate winds, which are mostly warm, and the island’s mountains should be snow-free. April sees minimal rainfall, but a sprinkling of rain may occur, more so in the mountainous areas.
