Detailed Itinerary
Day 1
Flat Creek Ranch
From Jackson, an afternoon transfer brings you 16 miles across the National Elk Refuge and into the mountains over a private jeep track. At the end of the road, you reach the hidden Flat Creek Ranch, where you are welcomed for cocktail hour and dinner at the ranch. Flat Creek Ranch offers five log cabins with creekside or lake views and a main lodge building whose kitchen is supplied with local, organic meat and produce. Overnight at Flat Creek Ranch…BD

Days 1 to 4 (4 nights)
Located in a remote and beautiful setting outside Jackson Hole, Flat Creek Ranch offers five "rustic luxury" log cabins with creekside or lake views, antique claw-foot bathtubs, and wood-burning stoves. The historic cabins are well appointed, clean, and comfortable but not necessarily fancy. The main lodge, with its front porch overlooking a lake, has a large living room anchored by a stone fireplace and a piano. The lodge’s kitchen is supplied with local, organic meat and produce whenever possible, including fresh greens from the garden. Half-day horseback trail rides are offered on rugged mountain trails, and fly fishing and hiking are equally popular activities.
Days 2-3
Trail Riding / Bridger-Teton National Forest Hike / Fly Fishing
During these next few days, you can elect to head out for a half-day horseback ride in the Gros Ventre National Wilderness Area, with 287,000 acres of pine forests, mountains, and steep valleys. You can also enjoy a half-day hike in Bridger-Teton National Forest. There are rigorous hikes or easy ambles that will bring you across elk trails and brilliant meadows with stunning views. In the afternoons, try your hand at fly fishing, with instruction, on the ranch's mile-and-a-half stretch of upper Flat Creek’s challenging waters or on 50-acre Flat Creek Lake, or take it easy and read a book on the porch of your private cabin, hop on one of the stand-up paddle boards or kayaks, and head out onto the lake. Overnights at Flat Creek Ranch…BLD each day

With more than 200 different adventures to choose from, we want to help you find the trip that’s right for you. Our Trip Level system ranks each trip in two ways: a number rating from 1 to 6 according to the activity, and general travel rigors. 1 is the easiest and 6+ the most difficult—see descriptions below for explanations of each number. A plus (+) sign means the trip is a bit more strenuous than other trips of that level. The detailed explanation of each trip—below the bar with the number rating—is perhaps more important, specifying activities, altitudes, hiking, and travel conditions. The Detailed Itinerary, available by download or mail, gives further information. Our Area Managers can also answer questions and guide you to the trip that best suits your interests.
Easiest
Non-camping journeys, optional walks, little elevation gain or loss.
