Hugo Sanchez

While studying architecture at university in his home town of Mexico City, Hugo began exploring the more rural areas of Mexico and developed a love for mountaineering and rock climbing. This passion led him to a degree in Alternative Tourism (Ecotourism) from the Autonomous University of Baja California Sur. He also took a Mexican Educator Course with NOLS. Throughout his career, he has specialized in outdoor education, nature, and cultural interpretation and has a passion for small-scale, local community development. He has guided sea kayak expeditions along the Sea of Cortez and hiking trips through the Sierra de La Laguna mountains. Off season, he is a farmer and beekeeper, teaching his own children and others about agro-ecology and sustainable lifestyles.

Client Testimonials

Hugo is among the best guides I've ever had on one of these trips—and that's a high compliment, indeed. He is perfectly suited to this work and is both knowledgeable and personable. I have nothing but the highest praise for him and am very happy and grateful to have met him!
