Caroline Olson

Caroline was raised in North Dakota, a mere 150 miles from the geographic center of North America—the spot on the continent where one cannot be further from the sea. Her first experiences with the ocean came at the age of 15 in the far north of Canada, yet by the time she graduated from Northland College in northern Wisconsin with a degree in Outdoor Education and an emphasis in Natural History, she had pursued sea kayaking and sailing on the “inland sea” of Lake Superior. Post-college, Caroline moved to southern Utah where she spent many summers as a river guide on the Colorado River, and then made her way to Alaska, “the Great Land.” When not leading trips, Caroline is a ski school supervisor in northern Utah and holds a Wilderness First Responder certification. She is also an avid birder and has kept a life list of birds since the age of 10—you’ll be amazed at what she can share with you.
