Dr. Zahi Hawass

Famed Egyptologist Zahi Hawass is the former Egyptian Minister of Antiquities and Director of Excavations at Giza, Saqqara, Bahariya Oasis, and the Valley of the Kings. Dr. Hawass received his PhD in 1987 from the University of Pennsylvania and his many discoveries have been featured in numerous documentaries. He directed some of the most important archaeological excavations yet conducted at Giza, and in 2020 at Luxor, led the team that discovered the 3,400-year-old “lost golden city” built by the pharaoh Amenhotep III, hailed as one of the most significant archaeological finds since Tutankhamun's tomb.
