Sarah Drummond

Sarah graduated from Maine’s College of the Atlantic, where her studies emphasized general ecology, island ecosystems, and art. Sarah was awarded a Thomas J. Watson Foundation Fellowship and completed a year of travel in Argentina, French Polynesia, New Zealand, Australia, and Greenland, focusing on the important role of artists on exploratory expeditions. Re-visiting many of the places described by these intrepid naturalist artists, she has produced an extraordinary collection of watercolor paintings and field journals, recording with exquisite skill her own “voyage of discovery” in a changing world.

Alaska's Inside Passage
Where did you find this gem of a person? Her knowledge, professionalism, skills, and abilities were top notch. She was so pleasant, patient, and kind with each traveler. She is the kind of person every parent would love as a science, botany, or biology teacher for their children. There was nothing she did not know about every mammal, fish, bird, plant, tree, everything. She answered endless questions. AND she was so much fun.

Alaska's Inside Passage
Sarah was incredible. She was so knowledgeable, so sweet, and went above and beyond to make the trip exciting and fun. Even though there were different skill levels of kayakers and hikers on the ship, Sarah made sure everyone saw everything there was to see, and saw it comfortably. She was very welcoming and social. We all had a great experience.
