Desiree Cruz

Desiree Cruz, a native of Guayaquil, Ecuador, has been a Level III naturalist guide in the Galapagos Islands since 1987. She obtained her degree in biology from the University of Guayaquil and shares her love of nature and the Galapagos in particular with great enthusiasm. An avid advocate for conservation, Desiree has served as both the Deputy Director and External Relations Office of the Galapagos National Park Service, and was a representative of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, an international non-profit, marine wildlife conservation organization. As an expert on all aspects of the Galapagos, Desiree has been a naturalist guide instructor at training courses organized by the park service, and is the editor of La Garua, a quarterly magazine devoted to the environment of the Galapagos archipelago.
