Margaritta Bottazzi

Margaritta Bottazzi was born in Costa Rica of an Italian father and a Costa Rican mother. She has a post-graduate degree in Environmental Biology from the University of Costa Rica and has guided professionally since 1988."I think travel is the best form of learning. I love to see the transformation of trip members when they leave the big cities behind and then, little by little, begin to change and get absorbed in listening to birdsong and looking for howler monkeys in the wild." Besides guiding regularly for Wilderness Travel, she has led trips for Princeton University and the American Field Museum. When not guiding, Margaritta is a consultant in ecological studies and also gives classes in ornithology and natural history at Costa Rica's National Institute of Learning. Margaritta lives in San Jose with her husband and two daughters.

Client Testimonials

Margherita’s knowledge of the environment and flora and fauna was truly impressive. Her ability to spot wildlife and call and identify birds was nothing short of spectacular.
