Our Flagship Zimbabwe Itinerary: Victoria Falls, Southeast & Northern Hwange, and Zambezi
Wild Zimbabwe is our most in-depth tour of Zimbabwe. It visits three National Parks and features the largest variety of activities—high tea at the Victoria Falls Hotel, game drives and walks in two of Hwange’s distinctly different regions, an open-air rail car game-viewing expedition, and firsthand exposure to the amazing community conservation projects in Southeast Hwange.
|
Zimbabwe & Botswana: Chobe, Southern & Northern Hwange, Zambezi and Victoria Falls National Parks
The Great Elephant Migration links Botswana’s renowned Chobe National Park with Zimbabwe’s Hwange National Park—the world’s busiest elephant corridor estimated at over 100,000 elephants. This safari is timed for the height of this epic migration. It also ventures far into the South of Hwange National Park to Jozibanini—the most remote camp in all of Zimbabwe, and perhaps all of Southern Africa.
|
South Africa & Zimbabwe: Cape Town, Greater Kruger, Victoria Falls, & Southeast Hwange National Parks
Our Great Wildlife of Southern Africa combines two of Southern Africa’s most romantic and cosmopolitan cities—Cape Town and Victoria Falls—with incredible wildlife experiences in two of Africa’s largest national parks—Greater Kruger and Hwange.
|
Our Newst Zimbabwe Itinerary: Victoria Falls, Southeast & Northern Hwange, and Zambezi during Green Season!
We’ve created a wonderfully active adventure for you at this special time with our expert naturalist leader—Zim guides are the most highly trained in all of Africa. You’ll set out game viewing by open-sided vehicle and vintage open-air rail car, have thrillingly spontaneous game walks when wildlife is spotted, canoe on the Zambezi, and observe elephants close-up from a special “look up” hide. And, you experience all this at a significant savings compared with high season safaris.

Trip level:
With more than 200 different adventures to choose from, we want to help you find the trip that’s right for you. Our Trip Level system ranks each trip in two ways: a number rating from 1 to 6 according to the activity, and general travel rigors. 1 is the easiest and 6+ the most difficult—see descriptions below for explanations of each number. A plus (+) sign means the trip is a bit more strenuous than other trips of that level. The detailed explanation of each trip—below the bar with the number rating—is perhaps more important, specifying activities, altitudes, hiking, and travel conditions. The Detailed Itinerary, available by download or mail, gives further information. Our Area Managers can also answer questions and guide you to the trip that best suits your interests.
Easiest
Non-camping journeys, optional walks, little elevation gain or loss.
Examples:
Easy to Moderate
Hotel nights and/or safari-style camping, hikes of two to four hours on some days. Other physical activities are sometimes included, such as optional sea kayaking.
Examples:
Moderate
Half- to full-day hikes (3-6 hours) over rolling countryside on most days, occasional steep trails. Many of our hotel-based walking tours are in this category, as are our snorkeling adventures.
Examples:
Moderate to Strenuous
Full-day hikes (4-6 hours), mountainous terrain, significant elevation gains and losses (hiking up or down as much as 3,000 feet) on many days. Altitudes no greater than about 10,000 feet.
Examples:
Strenuous
Full-day hikes (4-8 hours), mountainous, steep terrain (hiking up or down as much as 3,500 feet) on many days. Trips with hiking at average altitudes of 10,000 to 12,000 feet are in this category.
Examples:
Very Strenuous
Full-day hikes (5-8 hours), mountainous, steep terrain (hiking up or down as much as 3,500 feet) on many days. Most hikes take place at altitudes above 10,000 feet, with some days ascending as high as 18,000 feet.
