Special Price Reduction!

We’ve reduced the prices on our 2012 departures. Save up to $5,100 per person!

There’s no better place for island-hopping than sun-kissed Greece, and aboard the 34-guest Callisto, a beautiful oceangoing yacht, we savor the lesser-visited islands, each with its own character, landscape, and cultural heritage. Our journey visits fascinating places like the sacred island of Patmos, where St. John wrote the Book of Revelations, pine-forested Skopelos, whose charming old town spills down to the sea in cobbled streets, and Chios, with its Byzantine monastery graced with intricate mosaics. On many evenings, we’ve included independent time in port so you can take in the ambiance of local tavernas and village squares. Our guest lecturers bring the islands to life for us, and our wonderful yacht is our home away from home as we soak up a welcoming Aegean world.

Day 1-3
Athens, Greece / Folegandros

Embarking in Piraeus, we voyage to the Cyclades and the tiny island of Folegandros, with its spectacular chora (medieval town) of tall stone houses perched atop sheer cliffs. Village life here centers on small squares and lively tavernas, and the island’s interior is still devoted to the summer cultivation of barley.

Days 4-5
Amorgos / Nisyros / Symi

Rugged Amorgos, easternmost of the Cyclades, has dramatic mountain scenery above its deep bays. We head up to remarkable Chozoviotissa, a gleaming white 11th century monastery set on a dramatic red cliff 300 feet above the sea. On the green, volcanic island of Nisyros, terraced olive and citrus groves contrast with the stark crater in the island’s center. We visit the crater village of Nikoa, then sail to Symi, once the stronghold of the Knights of St. John, where we can marvel at the amphitheater of imposing neoclassical mansions encircling its harbor.

Days 6-7
Patmos / Chios

Patmos is sacred to Christians, Orthodox and Western alike, as the place where St. John saw the vision of the Apocalypse that he recounted in the Book of Revelations. The grand 11th century Monastery of the Revelation, built here to honor him, dominates the island. We’ll take a peek inside, then sail to the craggy island of Chios to visit its lively tradesmens’ bazaar and Byzantine monastery.

Days 8-10
Skopelos / Limni / Piraeus

The Venetians held power for 300 years in Skopelos, a beautiful island with a pine-forested interior and classic Aegean architecture of cube-shaped white houses with blue slate roofs. On Evvia, we explore the lovely fishing village of Limni, with its narrow streets and flower-bedecked 19th century houses. We disembark in Piraeus and depart on Day 10.

Callisto

The elegant 34-guest Callisto offers an intimate experience aboard a luxurious yacht. Her small size allows visits to unspoiled ports, pristine beaches, and coves and harbors familiar to fishermen and other sailors of small craft, but inaccessible to large cruise liners. The spacious staterooms are beautifully furnished with fine fabrics, and all have sea views (with large windows on the Leto deck and portholes on the Daphne deck). Cabins are air-conditioned and feature twin or queen beds, generous storage, telephone, TV/DVD, and marble-appointed bath with shower. The lounge is warm and inviting, and the Callisto’s superb cuisine is served at single, unassigned seating in the spacious dining area or al fresco on one of her two broad decks. Serviced by a crew of 18, the Callisto also features a library, email service, Jacuzzi, and a swimming platform.
