Day 2
Elephant Camp

For centuries, elephants have been traditionally used for transportation and as beasts of burden in the thick jungles of Southeast Asia. Visit the Thai Elephant Home to meet the elephants and spend the day with them. After learning commands and traditional techniques, you’ll hop aboard an elephant for a ride through the jungle, up and down hills, crossing rivers and streams, and passing waterfalls. After lunch in the forest, visit the natural black mud spa and river—elephants love this part of the day to take a mud bath and later swim in the river. The rest of the day is spent at the Thai Elephant Home with time to shower, sample fresh fruit, and savor an optional Thai herbal spa for your hands and feet (a great way to unwind), before returning to Chiang Mai for overnight...BL

Local Market / Doi Suthep Temple / Bangkok

Then it’s on to Wat Phra That Doi Suthep Temple, situated on Doi Suthep mountain, located just 10-15 miles from the city center. Wat Phra That Doi Suthep is the guardian temple of this wonderful city and a place of pilgrimage for Buddhists. An optional climb of 309 steps brings you to the top for a superb panoramic view of the surrounding countryside. Return to Chiang Mai, where you will finish the day with a 20-minute rickshaw ride through the quiet streets of the Old Town before heading back to the hotel. Checkout time is 3:00 pm.
