East of Cape Town lie the Winelands, an area of scenic valleys with beautiful old vineyards and gracious Cape Dutch farmsteads nestled in rugged lofty mountains. This is the heart of South Africa’s wine industry and home to its oldest wineries (most of the original vines were brought here more than 300 years ago). The region is also noted for its excellent restaurants.
