Amazon Rainforest Extension: Sacha Lodge

Into the Emerald Forest

Day 1
Quito / Coca / Sacha Lodge

Fly from Quito to Coca and transfer by motorized canoe along the Napo River to the Sacha Lodge. Overnight at the lodge.

Days 2-3
Sacha Lodge

Activities at Sacha are spread out over a wide area of distinct but equally fascinating habitats. Walk trails through pristine forest where 150-foot kapok trees tower above their huge buttressed roots, follow raised boardwalks into seasonally flooded forests, or travel by dugout canoe with a naturalist along blackwater lakes where luxuriant lianas, orchids, bromeliads, and palm trees thrive. Night walks and canoe trips with the aid of spotlights offer the possibility to see nocturnal wildlife. One of Sacha’s attractions is an observation tower above the rainforest canopy that offers a magnificent view. You can also walk in the “flying room” of a butterfly aviary at Sacha where 40 local species are bred, including spectacular blue morphos.

Day 4
Coca / Quito

Transfer by boat to Coca and fly to Quito.
