Brasov, Romania
In the ski resort of Poiana Brasov, 20 minutes from the city of Brasov, most small hotels are closed in summer, so the choice is limited to larger business-type hotels. The Alpina is a big hotel built during the Communist era with an imposing position overlooking the town. It has recently been updated to international hotel standards and has a swimming pool and spa services. The service is excellent here, and there are great mountain views from the guest rooms.
