Bellagio, Italy
Set on a hillside above Lake Como and just a 5- to 10-minute walk from town (about the time it takes to eat a scoop of gelato), the Hotel Belvedere offers a haven of comfort, not to mention incredible picture-postcard views of the lake, the Grigne Alps, and the fishing boats that fill Bellagio’s colorful waterfront. Owned and managed by the same family since 1880, the hotel retains a welcoming atmosphere and is surrounded by extensive terraced lawns, swimming pool, Jacuzzi, and solarium (there is also a small but pleasant spa with sauna and steam rooms). Fifty-nine guest rooms and five suites are located in three buildings on the property, with many rooms offering a terrace and all featuring the amenities of a modern hotel. Both the indoor and outdoor restaurants offer panoramic views of the lake and mountains.
