Kandawgyi Palace Hotel

Yangon, Burma

Originally opened in 1934 as the Rangoon Rowing Club, the Kandawgyi Palace is set along the lotus-covered waters of Royal Lake, not far from Shwedagon Pagoda. In the 1960s, the property became Burma’s National Biological Museum, and the dinosaur standing tall near the swimming pool is a reminder of those days. Guest rooms are spacious and the service is good. The Rain Forest Lobby Lounge is a great place to relax with a cold beer and enjoy garden views.
