M/V Mare Australis and M/V Via Australis
Tierra del Fuego, Argentina
Depending on when you travel, you’ll be on either the Mare Australis or its sister ship, the Via Australis. Designed specifically for Tierra del Fuego’s waters, they have 63 cabins, all with outside view and private bath. The ships are relatively small (120 passengers), so it’s easy to get around on. There is a bar and observation lounge on Decks 3 and 4, and meals are served in the dining room on Deck 1. The food is not haute cuisine, but it’s very good, with an excellent wine list, and served by a friendly staff. The use of Zodiacs for daily touring make this a fun way to get close to Tierra del Fuego’s glaciers and wildlife.
