Joshua Sonkoyo

Joshua Sonkoyo, from the Masai tribe, was born near the western Masai Mara Game Reserve and learned the traditional ways of the Masai from his father. He had the first-born son's privilege of attending school and later worked at a restaurant in a game lodge in the Mara. His deep knowledge of the wildlife he grew up around and his love of reading helped him work his way into Kenya's prestigious Utali Training College studying different aspects of tourism, and he is now a highly qualified Trip Leader with a wonderful knowledge of Kenya's wildlife and keen insights intot the ways of the Masai tribe, which he delights in sharing with trip members. Joshua is married and has five children, all of whom are currently at school or college. When not guiding, his main hobby is photography and he also owns a small cattle farm.
