Michel Rakotonirina was raised in Antananarivo and studied natural history and conservation at the capital’s American and British Cultural Center from 1972 to 1975. He began working as a professional Trip Leader in 1975, guiding a team for BBC’s Life on Earth program and later guiding for crews filming nature documentaries in Madagascar, including teams from National Geographic and Britain’s Survival Anglia. Michel is one of Madagascar’s senior guides and is extremely knowledgeable about the local flora and fauna. He speaks fluent English.
