Mani Rai comes from the small village of Deusa, located just south of Namche Bazaar and Lukla. With a background in guiding, mountaineering, and climbing, he has been a trekking guide since 2000, leading hikes to the lofty hights of the Himalayas. Mani is a licensed mountaineering instructor, and sometimes leads youth trainings for the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA). He speaks Nepali, English, Hindi, and Raj, and when not guiding, enjoys traveling and reading. He is married and has two sons.
