Shaft Katosang
Shaft Katosang was born and raised in Palau. He brings a unique perspective to the Rock Islands, having explored them extensively with his father, who was a professional hunter and fisherman. The magic and mystery of the forest and reef creatures was deeply instilled in Shaft in his youth, and while he went on to study accounting at Palau Community College, his heart remained with the spectacular natural world of Palau. He entered the field of guiding with veteran kayak guide and naturalist Ron Leidich and the two have worked together for years, each sharing their own wildlife knowledge from the perspectives of fisherman and scientist, respectively. Shaft has now traded his spear gun for a dive regulator and outrigger fishing canoe and makes his living leading sea kayaking expeditions. For him, this is the best of both worlds—old and new—and a great opportunity to share his wealth of local knowledge with guests.
