Chris Gillings, born in the county of Kent, "the garden of England," is an accomplished mountaineer, skier, sailor, and long-distance hiker. Originally trained as a technical illustrator, he has a lifetime of walking, climbing, and sailing experience, along with special training in mountain rescue, rope work, and navigation. "I particularly love wild mountain and moorland trails. I hope that some of the love and enthusiasm I feel for these places will rub off and create a lasting memory for trip members to take back and treasure." When not guiding our British hiking trips, Chris and his wife can be found climbing in Scotland, skiing in the Alps, or sailing in the Caribbean. At home, they operate a Bed & Breakfast in beautiful Teesdale in England's Durham County.
Chris is an excellent trip leader. Well organized, communicates clearly, responsive to the needs of various trip members, and a great sense of humor. I can't say enough good things about him.Anne H., The Highland Way
