Walid El Batouty
Walid El Batouty is from Cairo, where he resides with his wife and two children. After graduating from Osbourne High School in Kansas, Walid attended Cairo University’s Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management with a specialty in Guiding (Egyptology). During his career, he has been a guide for several Egyptian officials as well as for the brother of King Fahd of Saudi Arabia, several US Congressmen, US Embassy families, and the actor Roger Moore. Walid also collaborates closely with archaeologists at the University of Chicago’s Oriental Institute. One of his favorite places to guide is Abydos. “The stones talk to you,” he says, “and there is love in the poems on the walls.” Walid will also be one of our Egyptologist Guides for the Wonders of Ancient Egypt special event, January 10-21, 2011.
