Apene Douyon

Apene Douyon, a Dogon from the one of the most beautiful villages in Mali’s Dogon country, has co-led our adventures in Mali and Burkina Faso for several years. Apene (pronounced apa-nay) left the Dogon lands to attend school in Bamako, Mali&rsqu;s capital, and also to train as a guide, then became a full-time trip leader. His recent travels to Sweden and France have given him an opportunity to learn about our Western world, and he has a wonderful ability to introduce his homeland and its multiplicity of cultures to visitors. Apene’s soft-spoken personality, sunny disposition, and insider&rsqu;s perspective on Mali make him an asset on any trip.
