Nello DeLibero

Nello DeLibero has led walking journeys for many years. When he was young, a love of travel led him to explore his native Puglia on foot and on biking outings, and at Tuscany's Florence University, he studied geology, a discipline that combines nature and exploration. Nello later went on to complete his PhD in Natural Sciences at UC Santa Cruz. After his studies, he worked on geological mapping in Italy and also worked as a hydrogeologist in Mali, Djibouti, Senegal, the Dominican Republic, and Iraq. For the last 12 years, he has been a professional Trip Leader. "Being a Trip Leader is my dream job--hiking is a great way to "feel" a country and be in touch with Mother Earth. Hiking across hills and valleys awakens our old nomadic nature. I love the Italian blend of geography and history in the trails, the outcrops, and in the old homes. I feel so lucky to be able to share this with those who enjoy the same pleasure." In the off season, Nello can be found restoring his stone farmhouse in Tuscany or perhaps exploring in India and North Africa.
