Robert Currie Jr
Robert Currie, Jr., a native of Chile, has been running rivers around the world with his father since he was barely a teen. His experience guiding on the “Fu” and the knowledge that there were plans to dam the river led him to pursue a career in environmental law. Upon passing the bar, Robert moved to New York to work with Robert Kennedy Jr. and the Hudson Riverkeeper. He submitted a proposal to the Waterkeeper Alliance to launch a Riverkeeper on the Futaleufu, and after the proposal was accepted, returned to Chile to make his vision a reality. As the President of Patagonia’s first Riverkeeper, Robert is responsible for leading the organization, overseeing legal strategies, engaging in outreach with Chilean and international donors and strengthening institutional relationships with the Waterkeeper Alliance. Robert is currently back in New York earning a U.S. Master of Law degree (L.L.M.) from Columbia Law School where he was recently elected to the board of the Environmental Law Society. When not guiding expeditions on the Futaleufu he works to protect the watershed and the community that depends on it.
