The Ultimate Safari Experience
Serengeti Wildlife Safari
Our quintessential safari offers the best of all worlds: spectacularly sited lodges and our own special safari camps on private gamelands adjoining Serengeti National Park. Our stunning lodge on the rim of Ngorongoro Crater, one of Africa’s legendary settings, begins this dream journey with incredible gameviewing. On our private gamelands adjoining the Serengeti, we expereince the beauty and wildlife of Africa on real gametracking walks with a skilled tracker, by open 4WD vehicle, and on evening game drives to see nocturnal wildlife—all activities that are not possible inside the park. Along the way, we’ll feel as if we have the Serengeti all to ourselves. Our itineraries are adjusted to the seasonal wildlife patterns so you experience the best wildlife experiences when you travel with us.

Itinerary-in-Brief
Day 1 Arusha / Moivaro
Arriving in Arusha, we overnight at Mountain Village Lodge with beautiful views of Mount Meru (14,979').
Days 2-3 Lake Manyara / Ngorongoro Crater
We enjoy a morning drive in Lake Manyara National Park, nestled at the base of the dramatic wall of the Great Rift Valley escarpment, then continue into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The Ngorongoro Crater’s beauty and vastness must be seen to be believed—on the crater’s 105squaremile grassy floor lives Africa’s largest permanent concentration of wildlife, a sort of miniSerengeti in a phenomenally scenic setting. During our game drive in the crater, we’re likely to see elephant, zebra, wildebeest, and buffalo, and there’s hardly a better place on earth for observing lions than in Ngorongoro Crater, where the prides are large. Overnights are at the luxurious Ngorongoro Serena Lodge, perched on the jagged crater rim.
Days 4-7 Ngaroi Walking Safari / Exclusive Camp in Private Gamelands
Adjoining both Serengeti National Park and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, the Ngaroi is a vast wilderness area where the Masai live a traditional existence, moving freely in harmony with their livestock and side by side with the wildlife. The Masai have given us permission to set our safari camps on their gamelands at Ngaroi for our own private wildlife paradise. The Serengeti wildlife roams freely between the park and Ngaroi’s unfenced wilds. Because we are on private gamelands, we can enjoy bush walks, night drives, and exploration in open 4WD vehicles with a 360degree gameviewing panorama. On our bush walks at Ngaroi, we explore in the company of a specialist tracker-guide. Our cultural interactions with the Masai here are always a highlight.
Days 8-11 Serengeti National Park / Exclusive Private Camp
After a visit to Olduvai, where Mary Leakey discovered the Zinjanthropus skull, we head for a grand finale in Serengeti National Park. During these three unforgettable days, we enjoy the privilege of exploring the Serengeti by 4WD vehicle from our own private camp in a secluded section of the park, far from the lodges and other park facilities. In our private setting on the edge of the shortgrass plains, where predators stalk the bountiful herds of the great migration, we search a rich mosaic of habitats. We should see vast numbers of migrating wildebeest and zebra, along with Serengeti’s resident wildlife, including giraffe, buffalo, topi, hartebeest, waterbuck, impala, reedbuck, bushbuck, dikdik, hippopotamus, crocodile, warthog and diverse birdlife. Large prides of lion reside here, as well as clans of spotted hyena. The river tracks offer the best chance to see a leopard, usually in the branches of acacia or sausage trees. Our DecemberMay trips witness the great wildebeest migration on the Serengeti Plains while our JulyOctober trips explore our magnificent private gamelands adjoining wildliferich Tarangire National Park.
Days 12-13 Plantation Lodge / Arusha
Overnight at Plantation Lodge amid Tanzania’s famous coffee plantations, and depart on Day 13, or join our Zanzibar Extension.
Zanzibar Extension Days 13-16
This spice-scented isle is the perfect place for relaxing, snorkeling, and beachcombing on miles of white-sand beaches. Enjoy an overnight in charming Stone Town, with its rich architectural heritage reflecting Zanzibar’s position as an ancient crossroads of trade between Africa and the Arab world, and two nights at a beach resort with gorgeous Indian Ocean sunsets.
