This unique journey gets us out of the vehicles to experience the most amazing hiking paradise on the African continent. In Table Mountain National Park, our inn-to-inn hike brings us back through time, linking the cultural history of Cape Town with the botanical heritage of the Cape Peninsula on Table Mountain’s beautiful trails. On the stunning coast trails of Tsitsikamma on the Eastern Cape we hike inn-to-inn through pristine indigenous forests along the Indian Ocean, keeping an eye out for spouting whales and dolphins in the azure sea. We finish with phenomenal safari gameviewing from Ngala Tented Safari Camp inside world-famous Kruger National Park, enjoying the best game walks in the park.

Starting right at the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, our hike explores the multifaceted tapestry of Cape Town’s eclectic architecture then brings us all the way to the beautifully restored Platteklip Wash House on lower Table Mountain. From this historic lodge, we hike to Maclear’s Beacon, highest point on the Cape Peninsula, through pristine and diverse fynbos vegetation. One of the world’s six floral kingdoms, fynbos is endemic to the Cape. We hike across the historic Smuts Track to our next lodge, the Overseers Cottage, with its awesome views over the mountain wilderness and seascapes. Table Mountain National Park’s unique environment is recognized as a Natural World Heritage Site. On Day 1 and Day 4, we enjoy the luxury of the 5-star Cape Grace, Cape Town’s finest hotel.
For two magical days, we hike the breathtaking Tsitsikamma Coast. After an overnight at a park chalet on the Dolphin Trail, we hike our way east from Storms River Mouth through fern-filled indigenous forests with magnificent views of the Indian Ocean. The next day, we can swim and snorkel in rock pools en route as we hike along the water’s edge to our lodge at Misty Mountain Reserve. On Day 7, we hike further to The Fernery at Forest Ferns, our lodge on the banks of the Sandrift River, with its eight secluded chalets nestled atop the river gorge.
After a night in the elegance of The Grace in Johannesburg, we fly to Ngala Tented Safari Camp for four unforgettable days at a glorious safari camp surrounded by 36,000 acres of exclusive game-rich land within world-renowned Kruger National Park. On Condé Nast Traveler’s “Hot List,” our safari camp on the banks of the famous Timbavati River has the best walking in Kruger. Giant shade trees form a green and cool canopy over the camp. We also enjoy classic gameviewing by open 4WD in one of the most strategically important wildlife areas on the continent. Depart Day 13.
Take the cable car (or hike) up Table Mountain, visit Cape Point Nature Reserve on the Cape of Good Hope, sample wines at the Stellenbosch and Franschhoek estates. Overnights in the gorgeous Cape Town waterfront district.
