Expedition Cruise to the White Continent
Antarctica
It is a true privilege to experience the unearthly splendor of Antarctica, a land like no other in its geography and natural history. Our expedition cruise focuses on the glorious Antarctic Peninsula, one of the most wildlife-rich regions of the world during the austral summer, when the sun emerges after the long winter night and the sparkling, krill-rich waters teem with life. Aboard the distinguished 114-guest Corinthian II, our days are filled with adventures by Zodiac and shore walks as we join our naturalists to observe whales, elephant seals, sea lions, rookeries of waddling penguins, and incredible Antarctic birds including the fabled wandering albatross. The wonders are endless, as is the peninsula’s spectacular scenery of glaciated mountains and fantastically shaped icebergs.

Itinerary-in-Brief
Days 1-2 Buenos Aires, Argentina
Depart the US and fly to Buenos Aires. We enjoy a day in this lovely city, birthplace of the tango.
Day 3 Ushuaia / Embark
Fly to Ushuaia, embark aboard the Corinthian II, and navigate the Beagle Channel, named for the HMS Beagle, the ship Charles Darwin traveled aboard during his historic voyage. Throughout our voyage, our expert naturalists share their knowledge of the wildlife and unique ecosystems and accompany us on shore excursions to offer insight and ready knowledge of this amazing region.
Days 4-5 Drake Passage
We navigate the Drake Passage and cross the Antarctic Convergence, where the cold waters of the Southern Ocean meet the warmer waters to the north.
Days 6-10 Antarctic Peninsula
Walking among teeming penguin rookeries and exploring historic outposts, we witness the wonders of this extraordinary land. We make as many landings or Zodiac cruises as possible each day, with our experienced captain making the most of weather and ice conditions. We plan to visit Petermann Island, where humpback and minke whales are often sighted, as well as aptly named Paradise Bay, surrounded by heavily glaciated mountains and ice cliffs. To enter amazing Deception Island, we navigate through the Neptune’s Bellows, where the ship passes through a narrow passage. Once inside, we find ourselves in the magnificent ocean-filled crater of a collapsed volcano. We glide through the narrow Lemaire Channel, one of the most photogenic settings on the Peninsula, where the sheer 3,000-foot peaks of Booth Island and the Peninsula rise on either side. We sail through these scenic waterways, witnessing a breathtaking panorama of ice-blue glaciers and jagged, snow-capped mountains. Our Zodiac explorations bring us close to dramatic towering icebergs and between ice floes.
Days 11-12 Drake Passage
Our naturalists keep watch on deck, scanning for whales and seabirds as we return to Ushuaia. We see albatrosses for the last time as we head north of their range and return to the tip of South America.
Days 13-14 Ushuaia / Disembark / Buenos Aires
Disembark in Ushuaia and fly to Buenos Aires, where we connect with homeward flights
